All
my faithful viewer have been waiting for the long awaited Bricktown
Live concert this past weekend…well here it its exclusively!!
First
off I would like to thank Nuner from Bricktown Live for his
hospitality! The bartender, Missy Wilson, and bouncer John Blumenthal
were working extra hard to make sure that all the viewers were
comfortable and ecstatic about the amazing performances. This venues
non smoking and capacity for 325 viewers impressed me with its mellow
atmosphere and resemblance to a Seattle grunge scene. The ticket prices
for the concert were affordable, $10 in advance and $13 general
admission. The doors opened at 7:30 and closed around midnight. Drink
prices were normal with beer ranging from $2 to $4, mixed drinks and
shots for $5, Jager bombs for $6, Full Throttle energy drinks for $4,
and soft drinks and water for $2. However, even though the venue was
outstanding, their soundtech was mediocre due to a lot of unlevel
settings.

The opening talent was a band out of Shawnee, Oklahoma
called Dead Set. They received 4 out of 5 stars. Like all the rest of
the musicians, this band has worked incredibly hard to be where they
are at today. There stage presence was decent; I wish they could have
been more interacting with the audience. The lead singer, Charles
“junior” Stidham had great vocals and lyrics for all of the songs.
Drummer, Mathew Sizemore has a hard job for this band; he not only has
to keep a beat while drumming but also does the backup vocals. The two
Kozickis’ of the band, Zack and Steven, take over the stage with the
lead and rhythm guitars. Unfortunately like I said previously, the
soundtech was having problems with the sound, and most of the lead
solos and riffs were hidden under the rest of the band. Chase Everett
ripped it up on the bass with scales of heavy licks. This band is
unsigned and ready for your attention.

Awaking The Enemy also
known as ATE, was the second band on stage, based out of Oklahoma City.
They received 4 out of 5 also. This band had no problem getting the
crowd pumped! After a few songs a raging mosh pit began to develop. I
like that there are two vocalists for singing and screaming rhythm,
unfortunately there were more technical difficulty with undertone
vocals. Singers Nick and Dan, stun me with their catchy lyrics, and
flow of talent. The two guitarists Lloyd and Kelly had great riffs and
consistency. Their bass player Juice knows his guitar and isn’t afraid
to use it! Last but not least, there is Jerry with his long dreads and
Dickie’s style, was a great perform but need a little more aggression
toward the trap set. A great unsigned band, I would love to see them
again! I was banging my head and didn’t know it!

Third to be on
stage was a bloodied up band also out of Oklahoma City called
Serriform. Received 4 out of 5. Their presentation was impressive with
fake blood, eye contacts, and all black wardrobes. Their stage
performance was great; every member was active and energetic towards
the audience. The vocalist Jonathan was fantastic even though the sound
was hidden (soundtech). The mosh pit grew larger with about 20 to 25
people. This band has a large group of musicians including a synth, and
awesome vocal trio. Knick one of the vocalists was awesome with a
powerful bag of pipes. 4Liter and Shaun, the lead and rhythm guitar
where outstanding with their shredding solos and powerful rhythms!
Lyvewire did great work on the synth, he is a master of his craft. The
drums were dominated by EZ, who did great work.
Everyone by a ticket for their next show at The Conservatory January 24th, you won’t regret it!

SIVA,
SIVA, SIVA, that is all I have been hearing about lately, and now you
get to hear the review! Received 5 out of 5 stars. I thought that their
interaction with the audience was great with beach balls in the
audience to blow up guitars. Lead guitarist, Bryan “Bizzle” Jackson was
fantastic with his simple yet incredible riffs. Bridgette Oliver the
vocalist has a voice that will bring down a house! There aren’t very
many female singers that rise in the metal industry, and I fill that
her and the band will one day stand beside some of the best. Bassist
Brian Shafer had a great bass line for all of the songs, keep going
Brian. Along with the guitar section was David Bittle on rhythm, him
and Bizzle went well together, he never got off beat and performed
amazingly. The drummer, Brandon H. Fields was a performer gets into his
music and it shows through his performances. The cover of My Own Summer
by Deftones was great, I have to give Kudos on this one.
The audience was pumped and I understand why! Watch for this band on the Pandemonium Tour, their on fire!

Headlining
this phenomenal concert was a band that I have seen before in the past
and was impressed, Number’s Game out of Oklahoma City. 5 out of 5. I
have said it before and I will say it again, the lead singer Jason
Welch gives the lead singer of Tool/A Perfect Circle a run for his
money (enough said)! There were a few delays due to mechanical
(equipment) malfunction, but all together they performed well!
Guitarist, Josh Fischer that takes on lead and rhythm on himself, and
does it right! Allen Satnes had a little difficulty with his drum
stabilizer but bounced back with great beats. Jon Watje was on bass,
and he knows his bass!! If you come across their CD, BUY IT!!! It’s a
must have! Great job guys!

All together this concert didn’t
disappoint me, we had different styles of band, and they were all
great! Keep rocking Oklahoma and support your local bands, Thank You!

Sincerely,
Chase Mitchell
