Siva ~ Sanskrit: the auspicious one.

Re-Birth of Siva...

~October 2007

Longtime childhood friends, Bridgette Oliver (lead vocals) and Bryan Jackson (lead guitar) decided to put some feelers out for bass and drums, and possible a second guitarist.  Bass players came and went, but finally a close friend of Bridgette's in another local band referred Brian Shafer, who had tried out for them a few months earlier.  Brian was a bit inexperienced as far as stage time, but had a unique sound and style.  A couple weeks of rehearsing with Brian went by, but Bridgette and Bryan still hadn't solidified their decision, and the search for a drummer really hadn't produced any favorable results.

Brian didn't give up, and kept finding time to hang with Bryan, until finally the decision was clear. Brian's dedication was unmatched, as were his bass skills. His nickname, Rakit, comes from Bridgette's creative spelling abilities and the fact that if his bass is near no peace comes to those around him.

The search for a drummer continues. Bookings kept coming and the group secured appropriate fill-in drummers for periodic shows, all while continuing full-time drummer tryouts.

Finally, Bridgette was contacted by a drummer, a former member of another local female-fronted band, and set up a tryout.  Brandon Fields showed up ready to rock, knowing the group's original material as well as a few covers.  The rehearsal went smoother that any previous and it was refreshing to actually make it through a short set.

The decision to offer the position to Brandon came within a few short weeks.

Finally feeling complete in their foursome, Siva exponentially increased bookings and started expanding beyond Oklahoma venues.  A few months into regional touring, the band received an email via their myspace page from a seemingly "addicted" fan interested in trying out for the second guitarist position (which they'd all but forgotten about).  One thing led to another, and David Bittle was offered the rhythm guitar position over the summer. Bringing thickness and depth to the live sound, the band is truly complete with their fifth member.

Finding their groove back in the studio, Siva is currently cranking out at least 10 more original tracks for the debut full-length album.  In addition to the brand-spankin-new material, fans can expect a revamped "Dirty Secret" which will "blow their f*ckin minds" according to Mike Finucane, Siva's producer. The band is confidant fans will appreciate the change, and look forward to hearing their feedback on the new material. "It's definitely our best stuff to date." adds Bryan Jackson, Siva's lead guitarist. "The fans aren't gonna know what hit em."

Collectively, Siva is poised to blow people's heads off with aggressive beats, solid rhythmic bottom end, monster riffs and powerful vocals.... look forward to it!
