Feed the Addiction
Andy Hopkins

I was born in the small city of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Not coming from any sort of musical background, from day one it was very apparent to me that music would be a strong influence.  Moving all over the country and not having very much stability in my home or social life for that matter, I used music as a means to escape and be free.

My parents got me my first guitar on my 15th birthday and the instrument instantly consumed me. I would play for 8, 12 sometimes 14 hours a day. I wanted to be the best. By playing guitar it kept my mind from wondering in a negative way.  Starting as a sophomore in highschool and continuing until I graduated I played hundreds of shows for school functions, benefits, fund raisers and other occasions for crowds from 20 to 1,000 people. I toured the Southeast region of Oklahoma playing in towns like Durant, McAlester, and Eufaula playing events such as Southeastern Honor Show Choir and even the infamous McAlester Prison Rodeo with Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry and first lady in attendance.

Upon graduating I served three years in the Oklahoma National Guard, one of those years in Baghdad, Iraq. During this time my guitar playing came to a grinding halt and wound up on the backburner. It wasn't until I began attending the University of Central Oklahoma for medicine that I began to miss the excitement and joy playing guitar had brought me.  Influenced by bands like Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, and Pantera I started a cover band to get back to playing live and get back to the ability I was at before, but this only awakened the music-hungry monster that had consumed me before. I decided I wanted this to be my life and realized I am willing to do whatever it takes to make this work for me.

My favorite players are Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Dimebag, Zakk Wylde and Slash, and let me tell you, there is nothing like the thrill of the show. When I finish playing my heart out and the crowd goes crazy I'm in 7th heaven. That coupled with the meet and greets, and I couldn't be happier.  I love meeting all of our crazy fans and getting to know them. That for me is what its all about. This is the greatest job in the world, hands down.

I use and abuse ESP/ltd and Ibanez guitars, Peavey amps, D’addario Strings, EMG pickups and Dunlop ‘Tortex’ picks.
